A lesson in perspective:

• The battery in the truck died: A bad thing.
• It happened after I went to the gym: A good thing.
• It happened reasonably close to home: A good thing.
• It happened in a large shopping center with lots of potential help: A good thing
• It happened after we had torrential thunderstorms and not during: A good thing
• It happened about 6pm or so while still plenty of daylight remaining: A good thing.
• We had to walk home to get our other car: An okay thing.
• Home is only a 30 minute walk: A good thing.
• The air temperature was in the mid-60's and not blazing hot: A good thing.
• The other vehicle is in good condition: A good thing.
• We have very good jumper cables and a jump box if necessary: A good thing.
• The truck started up as soon as connected: A good thing.
• We were able to walk home, drive back and start the truck, get back home and eat dinner before 7:30 pm: A good thing.
• We were able to replace the battery the next day and everything is back to normal: A good thing.

That equates:

• Bad things - 1
• Okay things - 1
• Good things - 12
